How to access the Observations Power BI Dashboard
The Observations Power BI Dashboard can be accessed directly from the observations page.
- To open the Observations Power BI dashboard:
- Navigate to the
Observations page using the navigation panel on the left-hand side of the page.
- Click the
Power BI Dashboard icon in the top right corner of the page.
General Functionality
- Hover over any visual on the dashboard to display additional options in the top right corner, allowing users to export the data, use focus mode, view filters affecting the visual, and more (each widget on the dashboard will have varying options).
- Scroll down on the dashboard to view additional Power BI visuals.
Filters
The filtering menu is located on the left-hand side of the dashboard. The filtering menu is used to customize what data is shown on the dashboard.
- The ‘All Time’ and ‘12 Months’ buttons can be selected to show data from the past 12 months or all existing data.
- The dropdown filters can be used to further customize the data shown on the dashboard.
- The Clear Filters button removes any set filters and resets the dashboard back to the original data. (❗The filtering menu is persistent, if you select filters and leave the dashboard, the filters will still be applied the next time the dashboard is opened).
Last Refresh Date
At the top left-hand corner of the dashboard, you will see the Last Refresh Date. This timestamp indicates when the data was most recently updated.
❗ If the Last Refresh Date is not current, the dashboard may not yet include the most recent observations submitted to the system.
Interactive Visuals
The Observations Dashboard contains multiple Power BI visuals, each designed to present a different view of the observation data. Examples may include totals, trends over time, or breakdowns by site, type, or status.
- Filtering: All visuals are interactive. Selecting a category (such as a project, site, or observation type) will automatically update the other visuals to show related data.
- Drill-down: Users can click into specific visuals to further isolate subsets of the data for deeper analysis.
- Hover details: Some visuals display additional information when you hover over specific data points, such as exact counts or percentages.
These features allow users to move beyond static reports and actively explore the data to uncover insights.
